Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF) received the first "Organizational Recognition Award" at the annual Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) meeting held in Dubai on July 16, 2024. TAF is the only accreditation body among 83 APAC members to receive this honor and it recognizes TAF's active participation in and exceptional contributions to accreditation activities in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) indicated that TAF was commissioned by the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection to carry out the "Implementation and Development Project of Accreditation System." It represents Taiwan to sign multilateral/mutual recognition arrangements (MRAs) developed by international accreditation organizations. APAC, the largest regional accreditation organization globally, has honored TAF with the prestigious first organizational recognition award, highlighting TAF's remarkable accomplishments. TAF has signed 18 MRAs, placing it third among APAC members, which demonstrates its significant global impact. TAF is also an active member of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), the two main global accreditation associations. This means that test reports and certificates issued by TAF accredited bodies are accepted worldwide. As a result, Taiwanese products can be tested, certified, and verified locally, allowing them to enter markets around the world without the need for repeated testing and inspection. This saves both time and money, perfectly capturing the ideal of "Accredited once, accepted everywhere!"

MOEA states that TAF's accreditation services have grown alongside industrial and societal changes, expanding from household goods and appliances to net-zero sustainability products. Currently, the number of TAF's accredited bodies has exceeded 2,600 and the accreditation results of TAF are accepted by 37 government regulatory authorities. This award marks the TAF's extraordinary achievement and highlights its ability to align with national key policies and emerging industry trends. TAF plans to keep expanding its MRAs and explore new accreditation areas, while continuing to provide fair, objective, and independent accreditation services to facilitate trade.
