Since March 1, 2017 to promote the suitcases are mandatory inspections of commodity BSMI, MOEA February 24, 2017

Most people use their leisure time to travel with suitcase. If the wheels of suitcase fall or luggage damaged during the travel time will cause frustration. In order to protect the consumers’ right, the rimmed-frame or fixed-shape suitcases with wheels or dragger were announced on June 6, 2016 by the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) and will be subject to mandatory inspections beginning March 1, 2017. The inspection requirements are based on CNS 15331 “Evaluation criteria for bags, cases and trunks”. Where there is a wheel or a bar with frame or a fixed shape of the suitcase, are the scope of mandatory inspection.

Both imported and domestic produced products must undergo an inspection process and be affixed with the commodity inspection mark before being market. According to Article 60 of the Commodity Inspection Act, violators shall be imposed with a fine from NTD 200,000 up to NTD 2,000,000.

Consumers are reminded the following tips when purchasing suitcases after March 1, 2017:
1.come with a commodity inspection mark (mark sample is like either or and a Chinese label containing sufficient product information to protect consumer rights and interests.
2.do not buy the unknown, poor quality, or unidentified with insufficiently marked information on products.
3.try the rod of its junction sensitivity and fluency, choose expand and contract pull-handle to be smooth and good grip because of suitcases almost rely on its rod to run.
4.pay attention to wheel fluency and noise or select reducing noise volume, such as mute or silence design to avoid noise.
5.check the appearance of the suitcases intact and no pungent smell outside, and to check to see if each zipper is solid and smooth, or the buttons material is strong.
